Easter | Part II

Our Easter day picnic consisted of: eating, cloud watching, egg hunting and eating. I made picnic sandwiches with pesto, salami, prosciutto, mozzarella and provolone, a baked potato salad and deviled eggs, my friend made some amazing pineapple upside down cupcakes for dessert and my sister brought the wine! It was a lovely day spent resting on the grass and watching our kiddos have a blast together.

Towards the end of the picnic, Maximiliano said "hey guys! I found a bug!", as we walked to him he started yelling in pain and it turned out he picked up a bee and the bee obviously stung him. I felt so bad for my boy but he is such a tough little guy that he cried a bit but a bandage and hugs made him feel all better. That boy loves bugs, These were his thoughts after the bee incident: "now I need to find a rolley polley, those don't hurt me", "I hate that bee", "mama, I hope I don't touch a bee and it sting me", "only rolley polleys are nice". Every night before going to sleep, I ask him what his favorite part of the day was, that night he said "when Leo, Julian and Griff came to my house" when I asked if there was another favorite memory, he said "all of it! but not when that bee sting me!". The funny part was when I told him bees were nice but you were not supposed to pick them up and asked why he did, he replied with: "I thought the bee was sad... but it wasn't it,,, it sting me". That boy is too much!

Easter morning as I was sipping on my coffee and scrolling through instagram, I started to think that I didn't put enough effort into Maximiliano's basket, as I looked at the other pretty baskets on my feed. Instagram will do that to you. But, when Maximiliano saw his basket, he grabbed his playskool hero rocket and groot and said "this is all I want" as he walked away and played with them the rest of the morning, I realized no matter what I would of done or put in that basket his reaction would of probably been the same haha. Kids just don't need that much to be happy, at least not mine haha.

Easter | Part I

{true identity}

Hope you all had a happy Easter weekend! I had to bake a wedding cake for Saturday, with short notice and no working oven! It was a bit crazy, I had to go bake at a friends house and I slept only three hours on Friday night. Saturday afternoon we went on a nice walk, looking for squirrels and admiring all these blooming trees (which smelled amazing). We took advantage of our beautiful walk and snapped some pictures of our little crazy bunny. Everyone stopped to tell us how cute he looked and I couldn't agree more with them. Call me biased if you will. He's the apple of my eye. When we got home, Maxi and I dyed eggs because Damian had a show to play (they usually do the egg dying). I spent the rest of the night preparing food for the picnic we were having on Sunday. I will post our picnic pictures on a separate post because I don't want to overwhelm with so many pictures!

Easter Day

Easter day has always been one of my favorite holidays. When I was a little girl I loved getting together with all our family and having a big picnic and of course an egg hunt! I also always dreamed of getting a basket from costco (back then known as price club), filled to the brim with goodies haha. Well that never happened! My parents were both born and raised in Mexico and the only reason we ever knew about bunnies and egg hunts was because at the time we lived with my dad's aunt that threw the best holiday parties/ gatherings. Now, when I tell my mom how bad I wanted that basket she laughs and says "and I never bought it for you!?". Now, I would never get Maximiliano one, not that there's anything wrong with them but the amount of candy that is in those baskets is insane!

This Easter we celebrated by having a picnic at the park. I made a delicious mushroom-asparagus quiche, one of my favorite picnic foods. The night before Damian and Maximiliano dyed eggs so we also had hard boiled eggs, salad and fruit for dessert. Growing up we also never dyed eggs, I mean we might of done it once but it wasn't a tradition. On the other hand my husband did grow up with that tradition so he really wanted to dye eggs with Maxi. I'm glad he did because Maximiliano loved them, Damian told him the Easter bunny had laid them and Maximiliano was looking for "da bunny, where go?". Another thing my sister and I never heard of while growing up, we knew our parents were hiding the eggs but my husband really believed there was a bunny out there dropping off colored eggs. He was SO entertained peeling them, he almost ate three whole eggs. Did I ever mention that eggs are his favorite food? That and white rice, oh how he loves white rice. After we all ate, Damian took Maxi for a walk while my sister and I hid the eggs. Maximiliano had fun collecting eggs, he was very serious about the whole thing haha, so determined to leave none behind. We actually hid so many eggs he needed two baskets, luckily our sweet neighbor dropped off a basket for him filled with goodies the night before. The rest of the morning was spent relaxing in the sun and eating a bit of Easter candy. We then packed up and picked up some cupcakes to share and spent the rest of the day relaxing at home.

Getting Ready For Easter

It's been looking like Easter here for a while now... all last month Maximiliano has been asking for surprise eggs. When I need to get something done like cleaning or dishes or sometimes just for fun, I fill last years Easter eggs with alphabet letters, little toys he already owns and a few cookies or m&m's. He LOVES opening them and seeing what's inside.

Last year we headed to our friends house for Easter, you can see here and here. That was lots of fun but this year we're thinking about heading to a near-by park (hopefully one that isn't too crowded) to hang out, have a little picnic and have an Easter egg hunt.

This is the first Easter that I'm putting together a basket for him, I'm including a few of his favorite things such as a couple of action figures, a car, a giant ninja turtle egg and the I am a Bunny book (that's been on my list for far too long). Last Easter we just gave him an empty basket for the egg hunt but now he's at the age where he actually cares for things. I was lucky enough to find this set of avengers eggs, it was one of the last ones and Maximiliano is going to be too excited when he finds them.

I'm curious to know what things you are filling your baskets with!?

XOXO, Lidia

35 mm Mostly Easter

I love 35 mm. These were from a disposable that my husband bought me for Easter.
I just love that film captures real moments as opposed to digital were you tend to
take a picture, look over it, delete if you don't like and finally retake until you get a good one.

I captured some really good moments, some of my favorite photos being the one of
Maximiliano with the black sheep in the back, Maximiliano and I walking back from
downtown and Damian wearing the Easter Bunny ears. Then there are the bad photos...
like the one where my finger takes up half of the photo! Already bought two more
disposables for Maxi's birthday next week. So excited, my baby is turning two!

XOXO
